UNITED WORLD HAEDONG KUMDO SOUTH AFRICA Haedong Kumdo has grown from strength to strength in South Africa and on Saturday the 3rd of June we had a wonderful training day with some of the countries Instructors Our country has nine provinces and presently Haedong Kumdo is represented in 5 of the nine provinces in our country, and we shortly hope to have instructors in all of the 9 provinces. Currently the instructors in the various provinces are: Grandmaster Edward Jacobsen ? Country representative Master Godfrey Jacobsen ? North West Province Master Gregory Hart ? Gauteng Master Lisa Coetsee ? Orange Free State Master Awie Davis ? Mapumalanga Master Xander Davis ? Witeriver In these provinces we also have other qualified instructors who then form part of the provincial structures Our vision in South Africa is to build and promote Haedong Kumdo throughout the country as well as the entire continent, and we have recently introduced Haedong Kumdo to the Seychelles islands. We would also like to play an important role in spreading Haedong Kumdo throughout the world, thus we are presently under the auspices of the United World Haedong Kumdo Federation aiming on publishing an English Haedong Kumdo book which will be available internationally in the near future. We are also working hard to establishing a National team who could then participate in Haedong Kumdo tournaments and international events such as the International Martial Arts Games which has the support of both GAIFS and the IOC. We have the following Haedong Kumdo events planned till April 2007 to assist in developing the standard of our Sword practitioners in South Africa: 1st July ? Training seminar Pretoria 29th July Haedong Kumdo tournament Nelspruit 8th ? 28th August Grandmaster Edward Jacobsen will visit Korea for further training 22nd ? 25th September For day Haedong Kumdo training camp 18th October ? 1st November Grandmaster Edward Jacobsen will accompany Chong Je Kim, Jeong Seong to Greece, Holland and Germany to assist with Haedong Kumdo training and promotional testing 11th ? 16th December ? SA delegation goes to Seychelles to promote and train in Haedong Kumdo 15th ? 20th January 2007 ? Haedong Kumdo training camp and promotional testing Gauteng 10th February 2007 ? Full day Haedong Kumdo Live Blade cutting 24th March 2007 ? National training to prepare for the tournament April 2007 ? International Haedong Kumdo Tournaments ? Nelspruit South Africa. Although our events calendar for activities after April 2007 will only be completed in November this year, we know that part of events that we will be planned is a tournament in Holland in October 2007 and then a group cultural tour of KOREA in the end of October or the beginning of November 2007. We are sure that the art of Haedong Kumdo is going to be one of the world renowned arts in the near future and we are honoured the through the guidance of Chong Je Kim, Jeong, Seong, we in South Africa can be part of this wonderful Korean Art.
